Hearth ("Hearth," "we," "us") is a family connection app, operated by John Frank Krueger, that helps adult children stay close to an aging parent through a simple daily check‑in. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Hearth, you agree to this policy.
The short version. We collect only what Hearth needs to keep your family connected. We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we never use Apple Health data for anything except showing your family simple wellbeing context with your permission. You can delete your account and data at any time inside the app.
1. Information we collect
Account information — the email address and password you use to create a caregiver account, and a display name.
Family circle information — the names and roles of people in your circle (for example, the loved one you care for), a family code, and relationship details you choose to add.
Content you create — daily check‑ins, messages, voice notes, photos, medication names and schedules, reminders, and calendar events you add.
Health & Fitness data (optional, "Hearth + Health" only) — if you choose to connect Apple Health, we read steps, heart rate, and sleep, with your explicit permission, solely to display simple wellbeing context to your family inside the app.
Identifiers — a user ID and family ID we generate, and a device push‑notification token so we can send the notifications you enable.
Limited technical data — basic information needed to operate and secure the service (for example, timestamps of activity).
2. How we use information
To provide Hearth's core features — check‑ins, messages, medications, reminders, photos, and the shared family view.
To send the notifications you turn on (for example, when a loved one checks in).
To manage your subscription and unlock paid features.
To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not use your personal information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you enable the optional Hearth + Health features, Hearth reads only the health metrics you authorize (steps, heart rate, and sleep) through Apple HealthKit. This data is used only to show your family gentle daily wellbeing context inside the app. In keeping with Apple's requirements:
We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing.
We never sell HealthKit data, and never share it with third parties for their own purposes.
We request the minimum health data the feature needs, only with your explicit consent, which you can revoke at any time in the iOS Health app or Settings.
4. How information is stored and shared
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure in the United States. We share information only with service providers who help us run Hearth, under agreements that limit their use of it to providing their service to us:
Supabase — database, authentication, and secure storage.
RevenueCat and Apple — to process and manage in‑app subscriptions. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your full payment details.
Apple Push Notification service — to deliver notifications you enable.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or the public.
5. Your choices and rights
Delete your account and data — at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account (a two‑step confirmation). This permanently removes your account and associated data.
Health permissions — manage or revoke Apple Health access in the iOS Health app or Settings.
Notifications — turn off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Access or correction — contact us (below) to request a copy of your data or to correct it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information. We honor these requests; we do not sell personal information.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
7. Children
Hearth is designed for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
8. Security
We use industry‑standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit access to it.
9. Not a medical service
Hearth is a wellness and connection app. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a monitoring or emergency‑response service. Always rely on qualified professionals and emergency services for medical and urgent needs.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
